Despite the recession and credit crunch, it’s not just the economy where it’s going t**’s up.
More people are having cosmetic surgery according to figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Over 34,000 procedures were performed in 2008 – an uplift of over five per cent on the previous year.
The number of breast augmentation operations surged by nearly 30 per cent. Worryingly, the number of teenagers undergoing this procedure has inflated by almost 150 per cent in a year.
Even though the costs have plummeted in recent years, increasingly loans and other credit debt is used to fund these operations. So along with medical guidance, these patients may also be needing debt advice in the near future.
With many companies already going bust, going further into debt because of a pair of boobs doesn’t seem like the most sensible option. Maybe Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling should take heed!
